vertex is an exploration in two parts. the a sideÆs vertex and the locus of points explore the trackier side of tejadaÆs work meant mostly for vinyl play. both tracks make good use of strong wavetable chorded sounds, which are modulated throughout. the rhythms of the chords make up the identity of the track with elements coming in and out. vertex showcases a more layered approach to take the track from a percussive to a smooth feel. the locus of points follows more of a straight up techno approach sounding simple and effective. the b-side explores the more melodic and arrangement based side of tejadaÆs work. liquid mirror is a track rich in layers. 3 modular synth layers provide the initial modulating melodic ground work which is then complimented by lush tejada keyboard work bringing the song to itÆs apex and then reducing it back to itÆs start all while backed by tejadaÆs powerful drum work. p.l.l. (which stands for phase locked loop, a process explored here) continues this theme in a less obvious way. modular synths and drum tracks start things off while midway a modulating melodic phrase is introduced playing back a bit differently every time. four songs in all showcasing tejadaÆs simple and complex approach to dance music.

wagon repair are excited to announce the latest ep from berlin based canadian mike shannon. the re-nag ep, his third wagon repair release and first production of 2009, is the latest in a long line of releases from the head of cynosure records, with his work having previously graced imprints from ~scape and num to richie hawtin’s plus 8 records. opener ‘darkstar 3000&#8242,, is a futurist techno stomp. engined by poked melodic tones and a prominent metallic hat, dissonant stealth melodies manoeuvre around percussion and punched bass. biding time to prolong suspense, both bass and key melodic journeys coordinate to climax in a tightly executed sensory assault. ‘sweets (tla mix)’ opens energetically with static percussive tones circling around a pummeling kick. a rapturous vocal takes lead, effervescing within a wind tunnel of wobbly bass melodies and dizzy pads to close. ‘sweets (acapella)’ is an abstract entity, with it’s sole vocal discernibly haunting in the absence of beats and structure. full of texture and space, this is one for the producers that will surely not go to waste.

another brand new release from the audio assault kitchen! for catalogue number 033 labelowner jeroen liebregts delivers a true bomb. his track hunter/grazer consists of heavy driving beats and huge synths working together to devastate any dancefloor. we re very proud to welcome a new name to the audio assault family, and not the least one too! techno veteran luke slater reworked the original track into an absolute killer version under his planetary assault systems peudonym, a future classic in his trademark style! another new artist to release on this label is a new project by jeroen in cooperation with maarten hoogenboom called sinecure, their contribution is a melodic, broken beat version of the original track. to close this release we re happy to welcome back christian wunsch on the label, he made us a wonderful grinding dark rework of the track, a must-have for fans of his work.
